Stitches - video tutorials

Crochet is something fun, simple and relaxing but at times, specially in the beginning, it can be hard to understand. I'll try to make the tutorials that I wish I had found by the time I started crocheting.

These are all the stitches I use to make my crochet pieces.

Beginning Loop:
The beginning loop has many techniques. This video shows a simple and easy way to start your crochet (^-^). Obviously this doesn't appear in patterns that usually begin with the number of chains that you should do after making the beginning loop.

The Chain (ch) ( ):
The chain, or in patterns CH, will determine the size of your piece like the wide of you scarf.

Single Crochet (sc) ( | ):
The most basic stitch in crochet. Used a lot on making Amigurumi.

Double Crochet (dc) ( T ):
This is a longer stitch usually used to make scarfs and other clothing pieces.

Magic Ring ( O ):
There are many ways to make a magic ring. This is how I do it. I find it very easy and I use this to make my beginning for Amigurumi dolls. After the first stitch goes to the 2nd chain from the hook you can add as many as the pattern ask you too. Usually Amigurumis start with 6sc in the magic ring. The first sc DOES count as a sc form those usual 6.

Increase (inc) ( \/ ):
An increase is when you work 2 or more stitches in one space. This can me used to make your piece wider in some points.

Decrease (sc2tog or dec) ( (||) ):
This is a stitch that unite 2 previous stitches. It is used to make you piece narrowed.
